Emergency Department Physician

This is an opportunity for an individual to love their work in the emergency department and enjoy life outside work.  The shift pattern allows plenty of time for days off together to allow you to travel and explore the surrounding area while still being a part of a the Emergency Department assessing approximately 36,000 cases per year. The ED department is accredited for Registrar training with Australian College of Emergency Medicine allowing the successful ED applicant to lead, supervise and train junior staff and oversee all triages cases accordingly.  You will also need to provide the overall clinical responsibility for all patients within the emergency department and give assistance to the emergency surgical team.

Service Overview

The 181 bed hospital is a relevantly new rebuilt state of the art facility offering and is the regional referral teaching and trauma centre to a large demographic in the South Island.

The Location

Based in the city of the southern region with a catchment area covering Stewart Island to Queenstown, your backdoor opens to outstanding indoor and outdoor pursuits.  Offering a high standard of education from primary through to tertiary.  Ten minutes was incredible beaches and just over 2 hours to the mountains for skiing or hiking 

So come for the ski season or experience the outdoors in summer while working in a challenging environment.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have completed their specialist training and be eligible for vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand. The position offers an attractive remuneration package, relocation assistance and CME allowance
